3 Ways To Cope When It’s Too Hot to Sleep

Fall is quickly approaching, but summer isn’t done with us quite yet. You just know that there’s going to be at least one more miserable hot spell before we can all enjoy the cool breezes of autumn. Do you have a hard time sleeping when it’s hot? I sure do. I have a fan blasting right at me even in subzero temperatures just to make sure I stay chilly at night. Here are 3 ways to deal with the heat while you’re trying to get your z’s.

1. Cool off your sheets

Sounds kinda weird, but putting your linens in the fridge for a couple of hours before bedtime will help you cool down as soon as you hit the sack. It won’t last all night, but those first minutes are crucial, and man does it feel nice.

2. Use your ceiling fan correctly

A lot of people don’t know this little trick, but it makes a big difference. Most ceiling fans have two settings, counter-clockwise and clockwise. Use counter-clockwise for the summer to push cool air downward, and use clockwise in the winter to draw the cool air up toward the ceiling and away from you. Life hack!

3. Close those damn curtains

This one seems obvious, but I’m always amazed by how many people leave their curtains open during the day when it’s 100 degrees outside. Keeping your room dark during those hot days will definitely help keep the temperature down for when it’s time to go night-night.
