It’s like Cool Runnings all over again! Remember that movie about the Jamaican bobsled team going to the 1988 Winter Olympics?
Well here’s another feel-good, underdog Olympic story for you.
A lot more badass looking…
You probably don’t associate Nigeria with winter sports, but the country’s women’s bobsled team wants to change that. The ladies pulled off a tremendous feat and will represent the African country for the first time in the Winter Olympics in South Korea next year.
The three-woman team qualified in Canada after competing in five races. The team raised $75,000 to help cover equipment and other fees and went from there. Driver Seun Adigun is no stranger to Olympic competition. She competed in the 2012 summer games in track and field.
Adigun said, “I was inspired to start the Nigerian Women’s Bobsled team in hopes of being the first ever African representative, men or women, to qualify for the Winter Olympic Games in the sport of Bobsled.” Mission accomplished.
For real, so badass.
