If you don’t live in South America, you may never have seen a capybara in person – and maybe you haven’t even heard of them or seen a picture! If that’s the case, well, you’re in for a treat in the form of a total cuteness explosion.

Capybaras are the world’s largest rodents (think giant guinea pigs), and they live in social groups of 10-20 others. They’re native to South America, and you’ll always find them in or near bodies of water. They’re great swimmers, can stay submerged for up to 5 minutes, and mate in the water (which is tricky I, uh, hear).

And it’s not only humans that squeal over these adorable rodents (I know, I just said that). Based on the pictures below, there doesn’t seem to be an animal out there who doesn’t want to hang out – even predators, like crocodiles!
