Quimera the cat belongs to an Argentinian family who could never mistake her for someone else’s pet, were she ever to get lost. That’s because Quimera has some very unusual markings that make her stand out in a crowd.
She’s got one stunning blue eye, one regular cat eye, and a line down her forehead and chest that separates her colors like someone marked them off with a strip of tape.
But what makes her look the way that she does?
Well, she may be a genetic chimera, a rare occurrence in which an animal is made up of cells from two different eggs that fused together.
If she isn’t a chimera, Quimera may be a mosaic, which would mean she came from one egg that happened to hold different active genetic expressions. This is more common in felines.
Only genetic testing would give us the answer, but Quimera certainly doesn’t seem to care what makes her the way that she is. Like any cat, she mostly cares that she gets food, water, and attention from her human subjects (when she deems it necessary, of course!).
