It took 27-year-old Cassie De Pecol just 18 months and 26 days (a new world record) to visit all 196 countries in the world – and she’s the first woman to do so. Traveling alone on what she dubbed “Expedition 196,” Cassie wanted to do her part to promote peace through sustainable tourism.

In her own words:

“My goal was to prove to you how kind and hospitable people all over the world are, but specifically in regions that many people consider to be dangerous. It is my hope that, through traveling alone as a blonde, American woman, I’ve been able to respectfully introduce you to a completely different perspective of the world and it’s people; the safety, kindness, and the similarities of 99 percent of people around the world. In portraying this, I’ve had to let go of all of my fears and trust in people, trust in strangers, and trust in the unknown, and it’s proved to be a powerfully rewarding experience.”

Even though there were surely things to love about everywhere she went, there were 10 countries that Cassie picked out as ones that everyone should visit at some point during their lives. So, here you go – get ready to add to your dream travel list!
