A desk calendar is one of the things my mother wrapped for my dad every Christmas my entire life. He preferred Dilbert, for a while, and then Pearls Before Swine. Now he’s retired…but he still gets one. My uncle was a truck driver before he retired, and yet somehow asked for (and received) a calendar of his own each Christmas. When I starting working, there was one dutifully wrapped for me, too.
Which may sound, I don’t know, kind of boring? But the truth is, I loved those calendars. I loved reading the comic or fun fact or bit of trivia every day because it gave me a little something to look forward to as I sat down behind that desk and got ready for another day of work.
There are loads of super fun calendars out there for sale, but the 8 below are some of the ones that I’d most want for 2017 (plus, they’re all listed among Amazon’s bestsellers in the category). You may have to tear through the first couple weeks at this point, but, hey – that sounds pretty fun in itself.
If you love sports, what better way to start every day than with a bit of knowledge you can drop on your next trivia night?
Who doesn’t love a good quote? And, unlike the internet-at-large, these are actually sourced.
It’s one of the most popular, long-running comedies on television, so fans are guaranteed to enjoy daily reminders of favorite quips and moments.
The only thing people love more than kittens is unlikely animal friendships…with kittens. These images are sure to get you in the most zen headspace possible, all without leaving your desk (or getting busted by your boss watching cat videos on company time).
If you’re the sort of person who wants/needs pretty things to stare at to give you the strength to get through whatever’s tossed your way, you can’t find a better calendar than this one.
For that someone (maybe you?) who needs a little kick in the pants to get through the day – and not the nice kind, either.
Quotes, photographs, trivia…this will do for the desk of any fan (and aren’t we all, after Rogue One?).
Bonus if you’re a history teacher, but anyone who loves learning will dig this calendar full of extraordinary events and people. There are enough facts to last the whole year through!
Plus, there are variations for pretty much anything you’re into – women’s history, military history, et al.
