
There’s a worm that can eat plastic shopping bags. The wax worm quickly breaks down polyethylene, a plastic that could take between 100 and 400 years to degrade naturally. If scientists can find and isolate the enzyme that dissolves the plastic, the worms could provide a solution for reducing waste. Source Source 2 Source 3
