When Apple started assigning employee numbers, Steve Jobs was very offended that he was given the number 2, while co-founder Steve Wozniak got to be #1. At first, he tried to argue that he should be #1 because J comes before W in the alphabet, but his plan was rejected- so he gave himself the number 0, because he refused to be second in anything.
