The Lego rage is still in full force, and youngsters continue to come up with innovative designs that make us 30-somethings feel like real dummies. This is definitely the case with a 9-year-old girl from London named Sienna. Her Lego design was so awesome, that the company picked it up! That’s right, you can now buy her Lego invention in stores. Lego’s youngest designer is 9-years-old.
Along with countless other kids from around the globe, Sienna entered a Lego competition last December. Kids submitted their own designs for the new Lego Friends range play set. Sienna won the competition, and she flew to Denmark with her family and spent a week at Lego headquarters turning her amazing design into a product that other kids would be able to purchase and play with.
“I love how you can build anything with Lego,” Sienna said. “You don’t just have to follow instructions.” She decided to build a playground because she thought Lego’s Heartlake City needed one. Sienna retreated to her bedroom (like any inventive kids does) and sketched out her design with pen and paper before she started to construct her masterpiece. “I was just doodling on a piece of paper about what my dream garden would look like. So, it had a treehouse, and a slide, monkey bars and a rock climbing wall and swimming pool” the young girl recalled.
Working with Lego designers, Sienna completed the project and she is thrilled with the final product. While this job may have only lasted a week, the 9-year-old has her sights set on a Lego future. “I definitely want to be a Lego Friends designer,” she said, “It’s really fun because you don’t just type words into a computer. You actually get to design something and build it.”
