15 Underrated Teen Movies You Should Check Out

I feel like I grew up with the best teen movies of all time…the ones from the 1980s!

Let’s do a quick rundown: Better Off Dead, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Fast Times at Ridgemont High. The list goes on and on.

But there are all kinds of teen movies that fly under the radar.

Here are 15 teen movies you may not have seen or even heard of that you should check out.

1. Tanner Hall (2011)

You should check out this film about four girls who are coming of age at a boarding school.

There’s a lot going on in this one, including older men and seducing teachers!

2. St. Trinian’s (2007)

Girls who go to a private school must band together to save their institution from shutting down.

This is great British humor!

3. Bend It Like Beckham (2002)

A teenage girl who is a gifted soccer player struggles between her love the sport and her very traditional Indian family.

The title, of course, refers to British soccer great David Beckham.

4. Sleepover (2004)

Two rival crews of girls having sleepovers compete in an epic scavenger hunt.

The winners get the most coveted lunch spot in the cafeteria. Booyah!

5. Saved! (2004)

A teenage girl has sex with her boyfriend and becomes pregnant…and faces the consequences from her religious community.

6. The First Time (2012)

Two teenagers meet at a party after it is broken up by the police and form a bond.

This is a pretty realistic look at (awkward) young love.

7. Accepted (2006)

A young man gets rejected from every college he applies to so he and his friend make up a fake school so his dad doesn’t think he’s a total failure.

It could happen!

8. The To-Do List (2013)

The great Aubrey Plaza is a great student but she has no experience when it comes to…sex.

So she makes a list of things she wants to do sexually before she heads off to college.

9. Blockers (2018)

Three high school girls all want to lose their virginity on prom night. When their parents find out, they do everything in their power to stop them.

Funny stuff!

10. Project X (2012)

No high school experience is complete without an epic, insane party that goes completely off the rails…

Party time!

11. It’s a Boy Girl Thing (2006)

I can’t lie, I love a good “body switch” movie. They just never get old!

A boy and a girl who are next-door neighbors and also aren’t very fond of each other find themselves SWITCHED…and hilarity ensues…

12. Jennifer’s Body (2009)

A super campy horror-comedy about a teenage girl who finds out her best friend is killing boys in their school to stay alive.

What to do? Well, she needs to be stopped, of course!

13. Dope (2015)

A coming-of-age film that places a young boy in the middle of some truly crazy situations. All Malcolm wants to do is get into Harvard, but an encounter with a drug dealer turns Malcolm’s world upside down.

14. Save the Last Dance (2001)

A young woman and a young man from different backgrounds become involved and bond over their love for the one thing that unites them: DANCING.

Opposites attract!

15. Charlie Bartlett (2007)

A wealthy teenager who keeps getting kicked out of private institutions enrolls in a public school decides to become popular by selling prescription drugs.

There are definitely some good ones in there!
