6 Mouthwatering Facts About Chick-Fil-A

There is, of course, plenty of political controversy surrounding the Christian-owned chicken restaurant, but even if you think you’ve got all of the facts you need to decide whether or not to patronize the place, the 6 tidbits below might surprise you.

Not saying they’ll change your mind, just that they’re interesting.

#6. They’ve always closed on Sundays.

Chick-Fil-A was founded by S Truett Cathy in 1946 in Georgia. Cathy was tired of working in restaurants and other hospitality industries that were open 24/7 and wanted to give the gift of a day off to his employees – a day of rest, if you will.

#5. The employees are trained to say “my pleasure” instead of “you’re welcome.”

There’s been a push to change this in restaurants everywhere, but the slight tweak in phrase made all the difference to Cathy when he heard it the first time. He immediately put it into the CFA training manual.

#4. They have a secret menu.

The chain offers a chicken quesadilla, a spicy charbroiled chicken breast sandwich, a buffalo chicken sandwich, a blueberry cheesecake milkshake, a fried chicken club, and a classic root beer float!

#3. They’re the largest US buyer of peanut oil.

They fry all of their chicken and french fries in peanut oil, which is free of trans fats, cholesterol, and is low in saturated fats, as well. Not only that, but it’s so refined that it’s safe for the majority of people with peanut allergies to consume, as well. (Have terrible peanut allergy, can confirm.)

#2. Chick-Fil-A did actually invent the chicken sandwich.

Hard as it is to believe, no other fast food joint or dine-in restaurant had chicken sandwiches on their menu before 1964. Cathy came up with the idea when he was working at a grill and got a great deal on chicken breasts, which he then decided to cook using his mother’s pressure cooker. Boom!

We know… crazy, right?!

#1. They claim the Chick-Fil-A sauce is simple.

The recipe is a mixture honey mustard, barbecue sauce, and ranch. But though we know the ingredients, they’re not fessing up to how much of everything is needed to make it perfect.

There is little debate that Chick-Fil-A sauce is delicious, and if anyone has a copycat recipe that actually works, I’d love to try it.

For real, let us know.
