It’s obviously weird and frowned-upon to pee in a public shower. But if you’re in your own shower at home and the other people who share it dgaf, then I say you do you.
In fact, science is giving us a few reasons why even peeing in the shower at the gym might be a good idea as opposed to a gross one.
The biggest reason?
You’re basically saving the planet.
Let’s do the math: every time you pee and flush the toilet, it takes around 1.6 gallons of water. The average adult pees about 7 times a day, so you’re literally flushing away a little over 11 gallons a day – in a year, over 4000 gallons.
And that’s just you.
If you keep multiplying, the United States by itself uses trillions of gallons every year just for peeing (assuming 1 pee per flush).
But if everyone peed in the shower, the figure would be reduced by a lot. Even if it only means flushing one fewer time every day, that comes out to an annual reduction of 579 gallons yourself and 185 billion gallons as a country.
While you’re conserving water, maybe don’t shower as often, either. You don’t really need it every day, and it’s good for the world, even if it is a teeny bit stinky…
