This ‘Dilation Chart’ Illustrates How Intense Giving Birth Really Is

I think people who haven’t given birth have a hard time imaging how painful it really is. How my mother gave birth to five kids (and didn’t give most of us away) still blows my mind to this day.

But women are hardcore, and they don’t complain about pain very often. This is probably isn’t news to most of you, but men really don’t have a damn clue what they go through.

That’s why this dilation chart is important for everyone to look at. It illustrates what 1 centimeter to 10 centimeters dilation actually looks like. Just to break it down a bit: 1 centimeter is the size of a Cheerio, and 10 centimeters is the size of a bagel. Ouch.

The charts are handy for women, doctors, and midwives, but also for men and women who haven’t given birth to really visualize how intense the process is. You can get your hands on one of these dilation charts from Etsy.

People who have purchased the chart shared how satisfied they are with it.
