That’s the idea behind Mark “The Dog Guy” Imhof’s mission to give baths and haircuts to shelter pets in search of a forever home – and he’s giving them out for free.

He says the idea came to him when he adopted his first pit bull, Cleo, even though she looked “so utterly defeated” the day they brought her home. When he saw how much a shower lifted her spirits, he immediately wanted to do the same for more dogs – as many as he could.

Since then he’s made over dozens of dogs up for adoption in the NYC area (you can find some of them at the Animal Care Centers of NYC!) during the past two years.
