The 3 Things Disney Never Ever, Ever Allows in Their Movies

Unless you didn’t have a childhood, you’ve probably seen at least a few Disney movies in your lifetime.

Whether you started out with classics like The Lion King and Peter Pan, or you opt for the more modern offerings like the Frozen series, everyone should at least have some familiarity with the brand.

However, for all of their family-friendly films, Disney has actually put out some rather contentious content, too. Let’s not forget how characters have lost parents to violent deaths.

Other films have featured some frightening imagery that would leave most kids shocked.

But there are a few elements that you will simply never see in a Disney film.

In fact, according to Pete’s Dragon director David Lowery, there are three specific areas that are contractually prohibited from being included in any Disney movie.

Lowery told Ain’t It Cool News…

“When you sign a contract with Disney, the things it says your film cannot have are beheadings, impalement, or smoking.

Those are literally the three things you are not allowed to put into a Disney film.

They literally have those words in the contract as things you’re not allowed to do.”

So beheadings and impalement are off the table. That seems totally reasonable.

However, smoking probably wouldn’t be an immediate choice as a no-no in Disney flicks. Still, at least you can say the company doesn’t promote an unhealthy habit that has no place being shown to kids.

That’s not to say that these “rules” have been in place forever. In Pinocchio, the famous boy-puppet can be seen sucking on a cigar. Ditto for Peter Pan when a pipe is passed around during one scene. At the end of the day, Disney movies still do what they do best: Entertain kids and families with fantastic tales, songs, and imagery.
