If you’re a creative person, I don’t need to tell you that inspiration exists absolutely everywhere. We find it people watching, in random thoughts, in consuming other types of media…and for at least one person, in the shapes made by random coffee spills.
Normally, spilled coffee would be a reason to cry, but for self-taught artist Maegan Eckblad, it’s an opportunity for something else.
Her adorable, creative, and inspired illustrations are done based on the way the coffee spills on the paper – and she never knows what she’s going to see until it’s there.
Some of her drawings are of adorable animals, while others are Dungeons & Dragons related, so really, it runs the gamut.
She never duplicates a piece, so if you grab one from her website, it will always be one of a kind.
“Each piece of art was created by hand from a coffee spill. Only the original piece is for sale. Once sold, the piece is gone. No duplicate prints are created. Each piece is a 1 of 1.”
Because as hard as we might try, I doubt we could spill a cup of coffee in the exact same way twice.
I just love these, and the way she sees opportunity in a random event.
If you were going to buy one, which one would it be? I would have a tough time deciding, but from one creative to another, I think we can all agree this is a great reminder to look twice at the world around us every single day!
