Courteney Cox recently posted a valuable piece of Friends history.

I can hear Joey screaming, “VEGAS, baby!”
At a time when Friends was simply an idea – jokes scribbled on a script – these six actors could have never imagined what they signed up for: One of the most iconic series on television!
This picture was taken before the pilot was shot. The show’s director, James Burrows, had the randy idea to get this crew together for a bonding moment. And what better place to see how people interact as friends than Sin City!
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas and all that.

But that’s not all. Burrows had a prophetic message for them all.
In an interview with Vanity Fair he said, “I took them to Vegas. We ate at Caesar’s Palace in Spago. I had me and six of them and I said—I don’t know why I said this—I said, ‘This is your last shot at anonymity. Once the show comes on the air, you guys will never be able to go anywhere without being hounded.'”
And he couldn’t have been more accurate. During 10 seasons (1994-2004), the gang made its way into everyone’s living room. There are still people weeping over Ross and Rachel’s finale kiss.
Aniston, perhaps the show’s breakout star, still covers every gossip magazine known to man. Is she pregnant, yet?

The remainder— Cox, Schwimmer, LeBlanc, Kudrow, and Perry— have all starred in a combined dozens of movies and TV shows since Friends ended. A true success!
But back to the story…
After Burrows’ speech, the six semi-strangers bonded over dinner and gambling.
“I knew the show had a chance to really take off. So I did that and then I said, ‘Do you want to gamble?’ and they said, ‘Yes.’ I said, ‘Okay, go ahead.’ And all six of them didn‘t have any money so they each wrote me checks for $200 and I cashed them. And that was it. They came back and premiered and they don‘t have a shot of anonymity anymore.”

So there you have it, a bit of history for all the Friends fanatics!
