The Funniest Google Street Images Of Animals

Since launching in 2007, Google Street View has transformed how we explore the world. Whether you’re checking out a new neighborhood, planning a trip, or simply satisfying your curiosity about far-off places, it offers immersive panoramic views right on your screen. While most images are captured by cameras mounted on cars, Google gets creative for tricky spots—using bikes, boats, snowmobiles, and even backpack-mounted cameras to reach tough terrain.

Though designed for detailed mapping and street-level visuals, Street View often catches unexpected moments. Animals, ever ready to steal the spotlight, frequently wander into the frame—turning everyday scenes into delightful surprises. These spontaneous wildlife appearances are a charming reminder that nature still knows how to photobomb our technology in the most wonderful ways.

Just Your Everyday Big Friendly Giant

Google

In Huara, Chile, there’s a giant friendly-looking figure that could haunt your dreams forever. How did this cat get drawn so huge? It just goes to show that cats truly rule the universe, and we’re merely their pawns in life’s grand game.

Now, imagine stumbling upon this while exploring Google Earth. Would you a) rush to find the closest spaceship to Mars, or b) look for the country that’s the farthest from Chile on the map?

Hold Your Horses

This horse owns the road—no one’s getting past him, not even Google. With a vibe that says, “my road, my rules,” he’s firmly planted smack in the middle, totally unfazed by the fancy car trying to squeeze by.

Maybe he’s just throwing a little rebellion, or maybe he’s fully aware and aiming for internet fame. Either way, this horse is radiating some serious main-character vibes. Miley would definitely approve.

Ever Seen a Buffalo Herd From Above?

Google

Neither had we—until Google Earth made it happen. It captured this stunning shot of a buffalo herd roaming through Tanzania’s Kigosi Game Reserve.

Now if only we could master our David Attenborough narration, we’d be hosting our very own episode of Planet Earth. Imagine it: Planet Earth, Google edition! The idea pretty much sells itself. Just don’t forget—we were the first to suggest it.

Time To Take Flight

As the Google Street View car rolled through a snowy scene, a hawk suddenly glided right into view, perfectly silhouetted against the mountain backdrop. While photographers often spend years chasing shots like this, this breathtaking image was captured entirely by luck.

It’s these serendipitous moments that make life memorable. This hawk simply happened to be in the perfect spot at the perfect time, gifting us all a stunning photo to admire online for years ahead.

This Hare Is Jumping Into Frame

This hare is truly leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of us, soaring with impressive height. It seems like he’s jumped far above the Google Street View car—what an epic capture! Shots like this remind us that we share the world with incredible creatures who can suddenly spring from the bushes and right into our lives.

Here’s hoping this rabbit isn’t scared of heights!

Stop Monkeying Around

Japanese macaques, commonly known as snow monkeys, are famous for their unique habit of soaking in hot springs—and it’s easy to understand why! Living in Japan’s chilly mountain regions, they often retreat to these natural hot springs to warm up and unwind. This behavior not only helps them beat the cold winter temperatures but also has social perks, as they usually gather in groups to bathe together.

It’s a lucky catch that Google Street View captured these monkeys enjoying a hot spring soak! For anyone interested in seeing them firsthand, it’s a perfect invitation to visit Japan’s Jigokudani Monkey Park and watch these fascinating creatures in their naturally steamy environment.

Um…What?

Google

We’re torn between laughing and feeling a little spooked by this Google Earth snapshot. The photo was taken inside Buzz Mill, a well-known coffee shop in Austin, Texas.

Like many businesses, Google Earth captured the interior, which looks perfectly ordinary at first glance. But if you move forward and peek into the game room, you’ll find patrons decked out in full animal costumes. Is it funny? Weird? We’re going to say it’s definitely both.

Did Anyone Misplace a Giant Pink Bunny?

Google

This Google Earth image was captured high above the town of Artesina, Piedmont, Italy. The giant pink rabbit you see is actually an art installation created by the artist collective Gelitin. Titled Rabbit (2005), it’s primarily made from straw and wool, and the group spent about five years bringing it to life. According to legend, dozens of elderly women contributed by knitting a full ton of wool into the rabbit’s “skin.”

The installation is meant to remain in the grassy clearing for 20 years. The artists intentionally leave it to naturally decay and rot, as the process of decomposition is a key part of their artistic vision.

The Palest Moose In The World

Seeing an albino moose in the wild is a rare and magical moment—almost like something straight out of a fantasy movie! These animals have bright, striking coats that stand out and make them vulnerable to predators, so spotting one is incredibly uncommon. The fact that this Google Street View car just happened to capture the image of such an elusive creature is nothing short of incredible. It really does look like something out of Harry Potter, almost like Harry’s stag Patronus come to life, guiding the way through the wilderness.

Fish Are Friends

Google

Not every large fish is out to make divers their next snack. This giant sunfish is simply looking for friendship, and thanks to Google Maps, we’ve got the evidence. Does that face strike you as threatening?

This massive creature would slot right into the Finding Nemo world, and honestly, we’re surprised the film never featured one. Picture Dory chatting away with a sunfish instead of a whale! Maybe if they create a third movie, our new aquatic buddy will make an appearance.

Showing Off His Stolen Snack

seagull with snack

Much like that monarch butterfly, this seagull managed to place itself right in the center of a Google Street View shot—while soaring through the air, no less. That’s quite impressive. The bird flew close to the camera to flaunt a tasty treat it likely snagged from a trash bin or a beachside café.

Enjoy that snack while it lasts, seagull. Given how many of these birds linger around outdoor food spots, it’s surprising there aren’t more photos like this one.

A Squinty Argentinian Cat

This cat looks like he just got a glimpse of the future—and wasn’t impressed. When the Google Street View car cruised by with its bizarre camera rig, it clearly disrupted his routine and maybe even his worldview. Suddenly, everything’s in question: his life choices, the neighborhood vibe, and why anyone needs a 360-degree snapshot of his turf.

Captured mid-glare, he seems to be thinking, “Seriously? Right now? On my block?” Whether he’s a stray with street smarts or just the local enforcer, one thing’s clear—this feline did not give consent for a cameo. Next time, Google might want to think twice before stepping on the paws of a cat with serious personal space policies.

This Dog Just Wants A Lift

Somewhere in Japan, a Google vehicle—likely a bike—was cruising through a quiet neighborhood when it caught the attention of a curious dog. Without hesitation, the pup decided this mysterious contraption was worth following and took off after it, tail wagging and full of purpose.

He trailed the bike for a while before something else piqued his interest, prompting a sudden detour. Was he hoping for a ride because his paws were tired? Or maybe he just couldn’t resist chasing anything with wheels. We may never know his true goal—perhaps he was simply chasing a shot at Google Earth stardom.

We Don’t Know

dog street
Google

Is this pup gearing up for a game of fetch, or is it about to handle some business in the middle of the street? It’s anyone’s guess—and frankly, we’re okay not knowing. All we really care about is that this dog makes it back home safe and sound.

The bright side? It looks like the dog is in a residential area, so chances are it didn’t stray too far from home. Who knows—maybe its family is just off-camera, watching the whole thing unfold. But that wouldn’t make for nearly as entertaining of a mystery, would it?

This Is How You Herd Sheep In The Future

The era of shepherds trekking up mountains with just a walking stick is long gone. Nowadays, they ride four-wheelers, while the dogs mainly offer moral support and round up any lagging sheep.

I can only imagine how the Google Street View car managed to navigate this furry traffic jam. The driver probably had to wait quite a while for the flock to clear the path. But honestly, the snapshot was definitely worth the wait.

Caught Sleeping On The Job

This Brazilian cat clearly found the perfect napping spot on the roof of a car. With its comfy-looking blue platform, it’s no wonder the cat decided to make it its own little lounge area. I mean, if you were a cat, you’d probably think, “Why not take advantage of this cozy perch?”

However, the real concern comes when the car owner doesn’t check the roof before driving off.

We Get It, You Like Firefox.

Talk about taking fandom to the next level! A group of Firefox enthusiasts took their love for the web browser to the fields of Oregon, creating an impressive crop circle in the shape of the Firefox logo. And get this—they pulled it off in just 24 hours!

Located in an oat field near Amity, Oregon, this crop circle spans a massive 220 feet in diameter. While it’s not visible from the road, it’s a jaw-dropping sight from above. If you’re a dedicated Firefox fan looking for a quirky vacation spot, now you know where to go for an unforgettable experience—just make sure to bring your camera for that perfect aerial shot!

“That’s A No For Me Dawg” – Randy Jackson

Google

It sounds like you’re describing a tongue-in-cheek movement that’s been gaining traction, where people take their affection for pigeons (and other misunderstood birds) to extreme levels. Some of these bird enthusiasts even take it to the point of forming quirky “cult-like” followings, often using humor and satire to make their point. While it may seem a bit over the top, the goal is usually just to give pigeons, and other birds, a more positive image than the general public might give them credit for.

As for your frustration with pigeons, it’s not uncommon to find them annoying—especially with their loud coos and tendency to hang around public spaces.

Standing Guard

This vigilant pup is clearly on duty, keeping watch over his home like a true protector. Whether it’s strangers walking by or a Google Street View car cruising past, he’s not letting anything slip by unnoticed. He’s even standing on his hind legs to get a better view over the fence—now that’s dedication!

Of course, there’s always the possibility he just wanted to strike a pose for the camera. Either way, this good boy is doing an excellent job, and his serious stance only adds to the charm.

Caught In A Private Moment

This poor pup was just minding his own business, taking care of some *very important* business, when suddenly—bam!—his moment of privacy was immortalized by the Google Street View car.

Of all the times to be caught on camera, this has to be one of the worst. The internet never forgets, and now this good boy is forever known as the dog who just wanted a little peace and quiet. Maybe it’s poetic justice for all the times dogs have kicked open bathroom doors and stared us down mid-squat.

Stuck In A Tight Spot

This determined little pup had big dreams—whether it was chasing the mysterious Google car, escaping to freedom, or just getting a better view of the neighborhood. Unfortunately, his great escape hit a bit of a speed bump when his back legs didn’t quite get the memo.

It’s the classic tale of ambition vs. reality, but we have to admire the effort. And hey, getting stuck halfway through a fence and ending up on Google Street View is a kind of fame… just maybe not the kind he was hoping for.

A Moose On The Loose

This photo was likely taken somewhere on Canada’s east coast. This moose ran onto the road right behind the Google Street View car. This picture was obviously a total accident. Someone was just in the right place at the right time.

When your mission is to capture photographs of the entire earth, you’re bound to get some shots of animals in their natural habitats. This is a photo that’s worth framing. Look at those giant antlers! That’s one impressive moose.

Why Did The Horse Cross The Road?

Why did the horse cross the road? To get to the other side, of course. We’re not quite sure what this horse wanted that was on the other side of the road, but we’re pretty sure he was trying to get out of the way of the Google Street View car as fast as possible.

This beautiful pinto horse seems to have appeared out of nowhere. Hopefully, he makes it back to the rest of his herd.

The Butterfly Effect

butterfly on camera

This little butterfly floating by got right in the middle of a Google Street View photo. As far as we’re concerned, any street that has a monarch butterfly on it is a good street. These particular butterflies mostly live in North America. They eat milkweed and the toxins in the milkweed act as a defense against predators.

In the winter, all of the monarch butterflies migrate south to Florida and Mexico to enjoy the warmer climate.

Cats Always Land On Their Feet, Right?

cat climbing wall

This cat looks like it’s holding on for dear life. I’m not sure why it decided that it needed to climb this stone wall. Maybe because a giant car with a camera on it was barrelling towards it and it needed a quick escape route.

Maybe this cat will climb back down after the car leaves, or maybe it will just hang out on that wall for a while. That stone can’t be very easy to climb.

An Anonymous Cow

cow by stream

I’m not entirely sure why this cow’s face is blurred out. Maybe she didn’t want to be featured on Google Street View so Google blurred her face to protect her identity. I find it hard to believe that a cow would have an issue with having her picture taken, but what do I know? I’m not a cow.

This cow was just minding her own business when some vehicle— probably a bike— with a camera on it just drove by and took a picture of her before she could strike a flattering pose.

A Frog Blocking The Lens

This frog doesn’t want to share the spotlight with any of the beautiful scenery around him. He wants to be the star of the show. That’s why he hopped right onto the camera lens and made this part of Google Street View all about him. How narcissistic.

Clearly, this isn’t a Google Street View car, it’s a Google Street View boat, which is even cooler. Now we can see gorgeous views of lakes and rivers— or obstructed views of lakes and rivers.

A Penguin Race

These penguins are racing towards something. It looks like Timmy is in the lead, but Charlie is coming up close behind him. In sixth place, we have little Paulie. He’s struggling to keep up, but with a bit of perseverance he could catch up to the group.

I don’t know where this photo came from or which vehicle drove the camera out here, but I am so grateful that this picture exists. Penguins are way too adorable.

Is That A Tiger

tiger google maps
Google

Before you jump for fear, take a breathe. This fierce cat walking through the urban street is actually a fake. Some pranksters set it up to trick Google Maps, and now we’re laughing too.

We know technically this shouldn’t included on this list, but the sigh of relief that comes with knowing the truth is worth it to us. Come on, you know you were fooled. We were when it first showed up on our computer screen!

Relaxing In The Street

sheep in the road
Google

This herd of sheep got tired of roaming the country side and decided to take a nap. It sure look pretty comfy if you ask us. How long will they stay there?

Our guess is just long enough to cause traffic. There’s nothing better on a long drive than being stuck halfway home because the darned sheep in the road won’t get out of the way. We’ve all been there! Have you tried honking your horn?

Come At Me, Bro

dog running
Google

This pup just wants to be friends with Google. The car is on the move, and this good boi is desperate for a free ride. There must be snacks aboard.

We love this photo for so many reasons. First, there’s the way to doggo is running, with his tongue wagging proudly. Second, we can imagine the Google driver seeing the dog and wanting nothing more than to stop and make a friend. If only they could…

HELLO, THIS IS OSTRICH!

ostrich car
Google

We have no idea how this happened, but this ostrich has put itself in quite the pickle. The car must have stopped long enough for the big bird to get its head through the window. That’s the only thing that makes sense.

This picture is proof that you should never stop to feed the wildlife. Once the ostrich figured out which car had the goods, it wouldn’t stop bugging the passengers. They better give it what it wants so it will move along!

Lost

elephants
Google

If you ended up in the jungle thanks to Google Maps with a herd of elephants we have bad news. The elephants don’t know where they are going either. The watering hole was supposed to be two lefts ago!

Now no one gets water, and you’re probably further away from your destination than when you started. We thought elephants never forgot! What are they even using Google Maps for. You just can’t trust anything in this world anymore.

Horses Frolicking

horses frolicking
Google

Yes, these are horses frolicking. And yes, they are at a graveyard. Normally we’d mention how disrespectful this is, but how do you tell that to a horse. The probably lighten the mood just the right way, too.

As far as where these horses are going to; only they know that, but they look like wanderers, enjoying the grass just beyond the horizon. We wonder what Google thought as they drove past this mixed scene.

Stop!

Animal with horns
Google

You come to a stop in the road. Guarding your path is a large animal with horns and its child. How do you wish to proceed? This may sound like a video game, but for one Google Maps driver it turned out to be a reality.

What path did they choose? Did they offer the animals snacks? Did they back track and turn around? The choices are endless and only one thing is certain; be careful near those horns!

So Many Birds

seagulls
Google

There are a lot of bird in this photo! When seagulls find the perfect opportunity to feed they can be relentless, and this flock is hungry! We just hope the poor driver left before they become lunch!

This might look like a scene from a horror movie, but really it’s just hilariously bad timing. There is no “don’t go in there” moment. Just proceed carefully and don’t open any snacks. Now is NOT the time for eating.

Don’t Knock It Till You Try It

Pet the alpaca
Google

While everyone seems to be all in that dogs and cats are the best pets, they’re wrong. If you’ve never felt the warm embrace of an alpaca, you are missing out.

These things might not be the cutest creatures on the block, but they’re productive and useful. Talk to me when you can ride your dog to brunch like this man rode his alpaca. This guy probably does not even know what Uber is.

A New Species Or a Glitch?

dog wolf hybrid
Google

We want to believe that somewhere out there is a dog and wolf hybrid that hops around on two legs. But something tells us that this was simply another glitch in the matrix that is Google Earth.

This hilarious screenshot was discovered by Aaron Rose. In Google Earth, it’s located at the Far North Bicentennial Park and was taken in June 2016. We wonder if the owner of this glitchy pup will ever see this?

The King Of The Jungle

king of the jungle
Google

Lion King fans rejoice. This interesting carve out of a lion is right in the middle of a field in Dunstable, UK. Everything this lion sees belongs to it, so if you are in its sight then prepare to bow to the king of the jungle.

It’s interesting to note that the movie was actually going to be titled King of the Jungle, but they changed the name when they realized that lions don’t really live in the jungle.

Take A Dip…Or Not

creepyinthewater-78906
Google

No one has quite figured out what, exactly, is in the water next to this marina, but one thing is for sure — we’re not going anywhere near it. Step aside, Loch Ness Monster, there’s a new water monster in town, and it looks far more terrifying than any of the supposed Nessie sightings we’ve ever seen.

To us, it looks like a big crab, but crabs don’t get that large! This has to be some sort of optical illusion, and we want to know what the trick is.
