Londrelle Hall and Ray Mills wanted to find a peaceful and meaningful way to raise awareness for police brutality and racial injustice, so they did what most people would never dream of doing: they ran to Ferguson.

Hall and Mills traveled from their hometown, Atlanta, GA, all the way to the very spot in Ferguson where Mike Brown was gunned down – and they made the entire journey on foot.

They called their campaign Run For Justice – and that’s exactly what they did.

Embarking on a journey that would take about 8 hours by car, they ran and walked an entire 540 miles, posting updates on Instagram as they went.

For 20 days, they ran through five states in the rain, hail, sleet, and snow, never giving up despite physical pain.

Even after running 10 to 12 hours a day, they pushed a woman all the way home when the battery in her power chair died.

They traveled on foot for about 35 miles per day until they made it within a mile of their destination, where they met with protesters who joined them to walk their last mile to the Michael Brown memorial.

Hall was overwhelmed when they arrived and broke down in tears.

Even though their run to Ferguson ended, these inspiring men aren’t finished with their journey.

“The purpose of this was never forget, but to keep raising awareness of what’s going on around us, so this is not the end,” Hall said. “We will still run, not necessarily 540 miles, but we will still run.”

Hall and Mills aren’t just making a difference in people’s minds. They have been raising money to contribute to the Brown family’s legal fees and plan to open an afterschool/summer program for black youth.
