North America is in the midst of a brutal deep freeze right now. The nightly news is filled with photos and videos of the usual: people shoveling snow, cars skidding off of frozen streets, the stereotypical jokester saying “Cold enough for ya?” to the camera. But we’re also seeing some really gorgeous photos of the havoc the weather is wreaking across the U.S. and Canada. Nowhere is this truer right now than at Niagara Falls in New York and Ontario.
The famous waterfalls look like something out of a movie right now due to the arctic blast. Though it is utterly spectacular to look at, beware headlines screaming the falls have “frozen”. In fact, the falls often freeze – partially. Only once in recorded history has ice actually stopped the flow of water over the falls, and that was in 1848.
Still, the photos are pretty stunning:
Looks beautiful…and freezing.
