Any book lover will tell you that there’s no greater pleasure in life than creating a new generation of reading enthusiasts – and one great way to get kids to listen up when a book is open is engaging them with different voices.
Throw Harry Potter into the mix, and, well, forget about it. Those kids are going to love books for life.
Which is why I applaud Prince Charles for employing that particular combination when spending quality time with his three (and counting) royal grandkids. George, Charlotte, and Louis are all sure to grow up extra awesome for his attention to detail (and superior choice in children’s reading material!).
Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, revealed this tidbit as well as some other sweet morsels in the BBC One documentary, Prince, Son, and Heir: Charles at 70.
In addition to reading, Kate says that Charles gets down on the floor to crawl around with the children, and the three absolutely adore him.
Prince Harry also talks about how Charles responded to his and Meghan Markle’s request for the heir to walk her down the aisle on her wedding day – so, in case you thought you couldn’t admire Charles more, here you go.
“I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming and he immediately said, ‘Yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan needs and I’m here to support you,” Harry relays.
Sometimes, it’s easy to forget that royals are people like the rest of us, but the documentary reveals a man – a father, husband, father-in-law, and grandfather – behind the crown that’s worthy of all our respect.
And maybe even our hearts.
Check it out on BBC One if you get the chance!
