You better mark your calendars for November 1 because you definitely don’t want to miss out on these super cool new pieces from Danish toy maker, Lego.
Lego’s new Women of NASA set features four pioneering women who were instrumental in the US space program.
The four brilliant and inspiring women of NASA that Lego chose to highlight are: Sally Ride, Mae Jemison, Nancy Grace Roman, and Margaret Hamilton.
The figures also come with three different Lego builds, including the Hubble Space Telescope. The set was designed by Maia Weinstock and submitted as part of Lego’s Ideas program. The program allows Lego fans to offer ideas that the company might decide to develop.
Weinstock said, “Women have played critical roles throughout the history of the U.S. space program …Yet in many cases, their contributions are unknown or under-appreciated — especially as women have historically struggled to gain acceptance in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.”
These four important women will now get their due, in Lego form at least. We can only hope that sets like this inspire little girls and boys to…reach for the stars!
