Today we are shooting the wedding of Prince Joel and his Queen Ariana @chezariana @jdmakonnen_jd Wedding Planner @favoredbyyodit #Arijo #currentsituation #habeshabrides #kaba #orthodox #royalty #habeshawedding
Ariana met Joel Makonnen on the dance floor of a nightclub in Washington, D.C. back in 2005. Joel was immediately smitten, and he told Ariana, “You’re going to be my girlfriend.” A strong opening move for sure – but one you can kind of pull off when you’re royalty. Joel is the great-grandson of Haile Selassie, the last emperor of Ethiopia. That means he’s a prince.
The story didn’t end that night on the dance floor, though. Ariana did indeed become Joel’s girlfriend, and, 12 years later, they tied the knot in Maryland. A nice little twist in the story? It turns out that Ariana has noble blood as well. Her grandfather is the lord mayor of Georgetown, Guyana.
It’s just like Coming To America…except neither of them works at McDowell’s. In fact, Ariana works at the Executives’ Alliance for Boys and Men of Color and Joel is employed by Otsuka America Pharmaceutical. Congrats to the happy royal couple!
