As a parent, I’ve realized that many of the cartoons we were weaned on, well…let’s just say it doesn’t seem as if there was a ton of thought put into them, as far as child development. Programs now are geared toward specific ages and developmental stages, don’t feature violence, teach kids to be kind to one another, and are always, always focused on learning.

Except for Spongebob. Not sure how that one slipped through the cracks, but it’s hilarious.

Winnie the Pooh, though? You guys, it’s perfect and timeless and nostalgic and as applicable, somehow, to adult life as it is to childhood.

Which is all to say that you should watch it with your littles, if you haven’t. In the meantime, revisit these 10 great quotes to remind yourlsef why you want to.

10. “A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference.”

Your kid can pull this one out when she’s in (another) tiff with the neighborhood drama queen, and you can use it yourself when they’re testing the very last nerve you could bother to find.

9. “Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there someday.”

The perfect reminder for those days when your kid wants to do everything himself, and there’s absolutely no way to hurry him up.

So, everyday, if he’s 2.

8. “Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”

Beware your mommy or daddy heart, because watching Pooh is bound to tug on the heartstrings.

7. “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.”

If you need a new mantra, look no further. Repeat this to yourself every dang day.

6. “People say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.”

Recall a time when you were able to do this, and relish the memory – along with the knowledge that one day, your kids won’t want to talk to you every 5 seconds, and you can do it again.

5. “Love is taking a few steps backward, maybe even more…to give way to the happiness of the person you love.”

Good luck really delving into this one as a parent and not ending up in a puddle of tears.

4. “The things that make me different are the things that make me.”

Put this on repeat, because every person ever in the world needs to hear it at one time or another.

3. “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”

When the kiddo is starting school for the first time and you’re both in tears, just remember this little gem and be (slightly) comforted.

2. “You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.”

Unless you’re an introvert, because then your corner of the forest is perfectly lovely. The extroverts can come to you.

1. “I am not lost, for I know where I am. But however, where I am may be lost.”

Have a nice trip down memory lane!
