I’ll be honest, I’m not great with Easter eggs. I tend to get wrapped in movies and not notice all the little things, and in Pixar movies, there are a lot of little things. Here are 11 you probably missed.
1. Sid uses Binford tools
In the original Toy Story, Sid uses Binford tools. Binford was the fictional sponsor of Tim Allen’s show on Home Improvement. Tim Allen also voiced Buzz Lightyear.
They’re so clever.
2. Mrs. Potato Head reads A Bug’s Life
In Toy Story 2, Mrs. Potato Head is spotted reading a book version of A Bug’s Life.
3. The names of Pixar shorts are used as book titles
In Toy Story, you can see a bookcase behind Woody. Each of the book titles is the name of a Pixar short.
4. You can see the stitching
In Toy Story 3, you can still see the stitching from when Woody’s right arm was sewn back on in Toy Story 2.
5. Heh, Brodie
In The Incredibles, Mr. Incredible starts calling Buddy by the name Brodie. Buddy is voiced by Jason Lee, who played a character named Brodie in Mallrats.
6. A bit of Toy Story in Finding Nemo
There’s a Buzz Lightyear toy in the dentist’s office in Finding Nemo.
7. Riley has an impressive imagination
In Riley’s (from Inside Out) imagination, the playing cards have her face as well as the faces of her parents.
8. More movies within movies
In Monsters, Inc., Boo tries to give Sulley a Nemo toy. Monsters, Inc. came out two years before Finding Nemo. Cute.
9. The Incredibles are in Coco
If you look closely, there’s a poster of the dead version of the Incredibles in Coco.
10. A big clue in Coco
The skull on Ernesto’s guitar has a gold tooth, which was an early clue that it actually belonged to Héctor.
11. This takeout box is everywhere
The same Chinese takeout box appears in three Pixar movies: Ratatouille, Inside Out, and A Bug’s Life.
