16 Amazing Photos From The Burning Man Festival

This summer’s Burning Man was held (as ever) in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert and spanned from August 25 until September 2.

The festival of music and art is an “experiment in community influenced by 10 main principles: radical inclusion, radical self-reliance, radical self-expression, communal effort, civic responsibility, gifting, decommodification, participation, immediacy, and leave no trace.”

It’s supped to be amazing – in every sense of the word – and these 16 photos from the 2019 offering come pretty darn close to explaining the experience to those who haven’t had the chance to traipse out there themselves.

16. The best art makes you think, even if it’s just to wonder how on earth that works.

3. The best art is beautiful and relevant.

With my heart full of love (and dust), I’m back home in San Francisco from Burning Man! It was one of my best years ever – full of beautiful art, lovely conversations and connections with fellow playa wanderers, and intimate times with old and new friends. ❤️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I came across these intertwined, dancing bees during one of the famous Burning Man whiteout dust storms. For about 10 minutes I couldn’t see anything around me, except pure white. Then, suddenly the whiteout cleared and the bees appeared seemingly out of nowhere. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Built by @andreagreenlees, Andy Tibbetts, and Josh Haywood – the ‘Bee Dance’ is based off the intricate dance that forager bees do when they return to their hive to communicate with all the other bees to show the distance and direction of the food they found, so that the worker bees can go and gather the rest. The bees are also wearing ballet shoes. ?‍♀️? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #burningman #burningman2019 #blackrockcity #playa #burningmanart

This image summaries my burningman experience for me this year: . Dancing non stop through early morning sunrises, magical sunsets, getting connected with my daughter to come and with the nature around me. ??☀️ . I am grateful for everything in my life and love to live every moment to the fullest. . Because we live only once in this lifetime. Let’s do it the best life we could possibly have, and share the happiness with the world. ?❤️?? . #burningman2019 #burningman #23weekspregnant #burnergirls#ברנינגמן

I can’t say that this is on my bucket list, but it certainly does seem like a weird and wild time.
