20 People on the Popular Quotes They Think Are Absolute Trash

I absolutely hate hearing someone say “things will be ok in the end, so if it’s not ok, it’s not the end!”

I know that people who say it are trying to offer comfort, or maybe they just don’t know what to say, but this quote is annoying and dumb at best, and harmful at worst – people have, definitely, died very much not ok.

I’m just saying.

And here are 20 other similar quotes that people really, really don’t like.

20. I mean. It could bother you either way.

“If it’s not true the rumor won’t bother you.”

Like wtf ,some weirdos are talking behind my back and on top of it making up stories that are not true. Of course Im gonna be mad about it.

19. And some people want it that way.

There’s somebody for everybody. No, there isn’t. A lot of people die alone.

18. I don’t think humans understand each other.

First Corollary: “If you ignore them, they’ll leave you alone.”

Second Corollary: “They’re only doing it to get a reaction out of you.”

Third Corollary: “Maybe you should try being their friend.”

17. If you want to get technical about it.

“Anything is possible”

If anything is possible, that means impossibility is possible.

If impossibility is possible then not everything is possible.

16. How is that my problem?

“They’re only picking on you because they have problems at home”

15. You have to know when to call it.

“Winners never quit and quitters never win”

Complete bullsh%t because you need to switch when required.

Find your best match. Reed the book x Range “

14. Tell that to Benjamin Franklin.

“Lightning never strikes the same place twice”

13. Please stop saying this, people.

Gets hit by someone on purpose/bullied

Teacher/Parent/Observer: “That means he/she likes you.”

12. The mental scars are often worse.

“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me”

Just because they can’t hurt you physically doesn’t mean they can’t scar you mentally.

11. Both of these give me anxiety.

“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”

I still have nightmares about being bullied 20 years ago. It didn’t kill me but it damn sure hasn’t made me stronger.

“Everything happens for a reason”

Let me preface this, I’m a Christian who believes in God and that He can and sometimes does intervene in our lives. That being said, this is total horseshit.

Sometimes bad things happen for no reason. The world isn’t a fairytale where the setback in act one actually ended up being a good thing

10. I’m going with Pooh on this one.

They say “nothing is impossible”, but I do nothing every day. — Winnie the Pooh

9. But also, you have to be able to eat.

“Follow your dreams/heart/passion.”

8. How about you just try to be your best all the time?

If you can’t handle me at my worst, you don’t deserve me at my best.

^ It’s unhealthy to insist that people need to let you treat them like crap.

7. It doesn’t hurt.

Money doesn’t bring happiness

This quote is total bullsh%t.

6. It’s annoying every time.

“Don’t believe everything you read online” — Abraham Lincoln

5. I’m sensing something personal, here.

this one REALLY DEEPLY annoys me. “fall down 7 times, stand up 8”

ITS LITERALLY NOT POSSIBLE.

YOU CANT GET UP AN 8TH TIME IF YOU HAVEN’T FALLEN.

4. Or people who work really hard.

“Good things come to those who wait”

In reality, good things come to those who go out and earn rather than lounging around waiting for something to happen

3. Which would honestly be great.

Life is like a box of chocolate

You never know what you’re gonna get

Life is not like a box of chocolate

And if it were, you’d get f*cking chocolate

2. It could just all be meaningless shite.

“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”.

We’re supposed to believe that enduring horrible things will make us more capable, more resilient people. But a lot of the time it’s just not true. Some harsh experiences have no value at all.

1. Sometimes you can’t be nice.

“ if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all“

This is actually a really toxic thing that parents can say to their children.

Children learn that expressing their opinions is not okay unless their parents want to hear it.

It can cause some forms of communication issues when they’re older.

I’m going to make a note to avoid all of these things in the future.
