4 Weird Ways That Your Looks Change Your World

You don’t have to be a genius to realize that good looking people have a pretty big advantage in life. Things are just easier for them. Some people spend a majority of their lives simply floating by on their looks.

And being an unattractive person influences your life as well. Here is how your world can be shaped based on your looks.

Lucky for me, I’m pretty much an Adonis…right?

Ladies? Right?

1. Attractive people are often more conservative

According to some research, good looking folks tend to be more conservative, politically. It may come as a surprise, but the studies don’t lie. And if you think about it, attractive people tend to not experience as much inequality just because of the way our society rewards good looks, so it does make sense that they trend toward the conservative side.

2. Ugly people are more likely to be criminals

Wow, this is kind of depressing. A study of more than 15,000 high school students showed that those who were ranked less attractive were more likely to end up as criminals than those with average or above-average looks. The researchers argue that since good looking people are more likely to get hired for jobs, ugly folks might be more inclined to commit criminal acts.

There’s also research that shows less attractive people get harsher sentences. Talk about a double whammy.

3. People assume things about you if you are unattractive

We all know the stereotype of a scientist or someone else in what’s considered a “nerdy” profession. Greasy hair, glasses, unkempt, bad clothes. Because we’ve been conditioned to think like this from pop culture, it spills over into the real world as well.

Attractive people actually do tend to be more intelligent, but studies show that people believe unattractive people make better scientists. This also has an effect in the classroom: teachers are less likely to put in effort with students they don’t think have attractive qualities.

Bottom line: don’t judge a book by its cover, because you never really know what’s going on in that noggin.

4. Extremely unattractive people make the most money

There is justice in the world! At least a little bit.

One study proved that incredibly unattractive people actually make the most money out of everyone. The research shows that above-average people make more cash than just plain average looking folks, but that the really unattractive men and women make more than all of us out there.

One theory says that this occurs because good looking people are engaged in all kinds of pursuits, social and otherwise, while those not-so-good looking folks are keyed in on one subject or pursuit.

Hey, nerds win in the end – and they should.
