Meet The Newborn Twins with Birthdays in Different Decades

Twins are funny little quirks of nature. They seems to sense each other’s thoughts and feelings, they don’t feel right if they’re not close enough to touch, and every year, there are cute stories about kiddos born a minute or two apart, but in different years.

This year, though, these Indiana twins will have quite the story to tell for the rest of their lives – because they were born in entirely different decades.

The boy and girl came into this world around 30 minutes apart on, you guessed it, New Year’s Eve.

Dawn Gilliam gave birth to Joslyn Grace Guilen Tello at 11:37 p.m. on December 31st, 2019, and then her brother, Jaxon DeWayne Mills Tello, arrived at 12:07 a.m. on January 1st, 2020.

They were born at Ascension St. Vincent Carmel Hospital in Carmel, Indiana, and both Dawn and the twins’ father, Jason, were shocked at their unique arrival – partially because of their different birthdays, but also because they weren’t due for another 7 weeks.

Everyone is happy and healthy, though, so their birth story is just a fun bonus!

My favorite story like this is about twins Samuel and Ronan Peterson, who were born in Cape Cod Hospital in Massachusetts just as Daylight Savings Time was taking effect. So even though Samuel was born 29 minutes before his brother, since Ronan was born after DST took effect, his legal time of birth was before his older sibling’s.

Those kids will be arguing about who is technically older for the rest of their lives and I love it.

Normal twin stuff – except not.

I’m kind of angry now that I didn’t plan my own pregnancies better, to be honest.

I guess there’s always the next turn of the decade – get ready, younger people!
