If you’re like me, you first met Busy Philipps back in her Dawson’s Creek days (though we can all agree that the college years were meh at best) and have continued to appreciate her work – and adore her willingness to flip off anyone who bothers her in her personal life, too.
Which means this story about her conversation with a studio executive who canceled her show probably won’t surprise you, but it will delight you.
It began in 2019, when E! canceled Busy Philipp’s talk show Busy Tonight after giving it only 7 months on air to find an audience.

When Busy heard the news, she posted a series of photos on Instagram and got real in the caption about how the news affected her, how she reacted, and what she believed was the best way forward.
She was on a flight to Dallas when the news broke, and a call from her manager was waiting when she landed.
“I was blindsided, especially since the last text I had from the head of E! (who’s now gone) was about marketing for Busy tonight that he was excited to tell me about.”
After going to the hotel bar and venting (and crying) to her friends and family, she waited for a call from the network directly. Or an email. A text.
When nothing showed up, she decided to text the exec herself. She shared the screenshot and honestly, it makes me lol too.
Then she went and got a new tattoo to remind her not to let then man (or men) get her down.
“I work hard AF and love to prove people wrong. And finally, the men will always try to f*ck you over so f*ck em and figure out something else. Which is exactly what Caissie and I have been doing. And next year; in 2020 we will finally be able to share it. So Happy New Year everyone!!”
As a little bonus, she also shared a letter her daughter Birdie wrote to the man who badly handled her mother’s being basically fired.
That PS though – a girl after my own heart.
Damn the man. Learn it young and keep it close.
