15 People Muse on What 4 States Would Make the Best New Country

It’s not really something to joke about, how different politicians and people from different states keep talking about seceding from the United States. That said, it can be interesting to consider what states, if any, could really make a go of it as a country.

There are serious considerations, like access to water and trade, and less serious ones, like how good the food is, but most of these 15 folks have their own thought process for choosing the best (attached) four.

15. This one is super interesting.

I think it might work out fairly well.

14. If that’s your goal, I think you’ve nailed it.

Everyone has their own standards!

13. She really thought this out.

She’s going to make a great president.

12. Hmm.

They’re definitely the ones that will stay the coolest in the face of global warming.

11. A very creative answer.

I’m pretty sure they don’t want to deal with the rest of us.

10. I feel like the people of these states might be totally down with this.

Not sure whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

9. If food is your game…

This is a strong answer.

8. This might be the only reason North Dakota really gets any love.

I’m just saying.

7. I guess this person really loves California.

I mean, there are a lot of lovely states around it, too.

6. Idaho, obviously.

These are my people.

5. This is a strong second pick, as far as I’m concerned.

Nice weather, nice people.

4. It’s not America, but…

Maybe we could just borrow a bit of British Columbia? Yeah?

3. Was it already unofficial?

I guess I was out of the loop.

2. I’m not sure that’s a good enough reason to leave out Washington.

But different strokes and all of that.

1. Where’s the fun in that?

I guess not everyone enjoys playing.

I’m not sure anyone has got it quite right yet, to be honest.

I’m choosing Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana – just for the scenery and to be able to wait out global warming for the longest time possible.

What’s your choice, and why? Tell us about it in the comments!
