Have you ever had a conversation with someone and you were SHOCKED by some basic knowledge that they didn’t know?
Yeah…it happens all the time…and it’s pretty scary!
Let’s hear from AskReddit users about the basic knowledge that a lot of people don’t seem to know.
1. Go easy on that stuff.
“Overdosing on Tylenol (Acetaminophen/Paracetamol) in large enough doses will prove fatal.
The d**th is slow, painful and cruel, and there’s nothing that can be done about it save for a liver transplant which: good luck with that.”
2. Right!
“Politicians are government employees. They literally work for you.
Hold them accountable, and for f**k’s sake, don’t make them your personality.”
3. It’s true!
“That the health of your teeth, gums, and mouth, is directly related to the health of your heart and how much inflammation exists in your body.”
4. Always.
“In the United States, when you’re a pedestrian walking on a road with no sidewalks, you should walk on the left side of the road so you can see oncoming traffic.
This gives you precious extra seconds if they’re driving like an a**hole.”
5. Pedal to the metal.
“That on ramps are meant to accelerate to the speed limit but the time you reach the highway you’re entering.
People get to the end and they’re still going 35 MPH. What are you doing?”
6. Might as well JUMP.
“Red on d**d battery first, then red to donor, black from donor then finally black to bare metal on stalled car or black terminal when jumping a car battery.”
7. You’ll get sick.
“A guest requested their chicken be cooked medium rare this week.
I don’t understand why I have to stress that chicken only leaves the kitchen when it’s completely cooked.”
8. Seriously.
“How to check if a source is credible.
Misinformation is straight up k**ling people.”
9. Go read up on them.
“The definitions of fascism and socialism.
And the fact that they are not the same thing.”
10. Easy as that.
“The number of people who just randomly turn things hoping that it goes the correct way for what they want to do is amazing.
Remember folks it’s righty tighty and lefty loosey.”
11. Drink up.
“The average person is chronically dehydrated. Drink more water.
Stay hydrated. This is a threat.”
12. All of this.
“Property Maintenance Manager here:
How to flip a breaker… How a switched outlet functions… How to change a standard light bulb… How to replace an air filter for HVAC… How to push the reset button on a in-sink disposal… How to clean the filter on a wall/window mounted AC…
How to remove particulate buildup from a sink spout aerator… How to light a pilot light… How to reattach the chain on their toilet flapper/handle… How to reattach a chain that fell off of the clasp on a ceiling fan pull chain… How to remove mildew in the tub area… How to coordinate a mail stop when out of town…
How to do a change of address when moving out… How to change their shipping address after moving for things like Amazon packages… how to return a call from a contractor who is on a company phone and can’t text per the tenants request… How to change a tire, had a tenant call me to ask for help, and and had one that I bumped into on-site that needed a hand… How to update their vehicle’s registration (the last few years we’ve had a lot of expired registrations parked in our lots)… I’m sure there are more…”
