As if there weren’t enough reasons to already love the late Fred Rogers, here’s another one.
Rogers passed away in 2003 at the age of 74 and according to his widow Joanne, Fred was a fan of farting in public. He especially liked to do this when an event or a party was…shall we say, boring or dull.
She said, “He would just raise one cheek and he would look at me and smile.”

Was the man an American treasure, or what? Joanne also said that Fred enjoyed dirty jokes and when the film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood was going to be made, she only had one request: that they not make her late husband out to be a saint.
Fred proposed to Joanne when they were both 24-years-old…and he did it in a letter.
Joanne said she the only keepsakes she kept from her late husband are the letters they exchanged when they lived far apart early in their courtship. She keeps them in a tote bag by her favorite chair so she can read any of the letters whenever she wants to.

Fred and Joanne Rogers were married for more than 50 years and raised two songs together. Joanne is now 91-years-old.
In case you haven’t seen the film based on his life starring Tom Hanks yet, here is the trailer to refresh your memory.
We sure miss Fred Rogers!
