When you think about iconic Christmas movies, there are a handful that usually make every person’s list: It’s a Wonderful LifeElfHome AloneA Christmas Story, and of course…National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

Well, I have some great news for you! Are you ready? Okay! Christmas Vacation, the third film to feature the wacky Griswold clan, is returning to theaters to celebrate its 30th anniversary (the film originally hit the big screen on December 1, 1989). There are a lot of AMC Theaters participating in the showings, which kick off with a special event on December 5. You can see the full list of theaters HERE to find out how far you have to drive to catch the show. The movie will also screen from December 6-12.

Let’s do a quick run-down of the plot of this Christmas classic. The Griswolds have already taken a cross-country road trip in the original Vacation film and journeyed through Europe in the second installment, so for the 1989 entry, it was time to stay at home for the holidays to enjoy friends and family.

But, as you know, nothing ever goes as planned in the Griswold universe. The in-laws arrive, the bickering begins…and then Cousin Eddie and his rambunctious family join the party as well.

Take a look at the original trailer for this 1989 classic starring Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, and of course, Randy Quaid as Cousin Eddie.
