A man once tried to assassinate Andrew Jackson with two different pistols and failed both times. On January 30th, 1835, Richard Lawrence attempted to shoot President Jackson while he was attending a funeral. His weapons misfired one after the other, so Jackson beat him to near death with his cane. Source Source 2
