Jim Henson Productions was sued by Hormel, the maker of Spam, in 1995. The lawsuit was filed because ‘Spa’am’ was the name of one of Ms. Piggy’s bodyguards in Muppet Treasure Island. The judge ruled in favor of The Muppets, saying, “…one might think Hormel would welcome the association with a genuine source of pork.”
