The first Titanic movie came out a month after the ship sank and starred a real-life survivor. Actress Dorothy Gibson, who’d escaped on the first life boat to launch from the ship, was reluctant to relive the trauma, but producers urged her to push through her tears. She co-wrote the film, wore the same clothes she’d worn on the ship, and the movie was completed in a week- making it the fastest film in history to tell the story of national tragedy. Source
