This is one of those stories about kids that absolutely blows my mind…especially when I think about what I was doing when I was seven: putting on plays with friends, playing sports, and scamming my parents out of cookies whenever possible. Usual 1st grade stuff.
But 7-year-old Chloe Bridgewater from Hereford, UK has other ideas.
See, in addition to her dreams of being an Olympic swimmer and working in a chocolate factory (solid choices in their own right, girlfriend), Chloe thinks maybe she’d like to get a job at Google.
Of course, the decision came after she learned the company’s Silicon Valley headquarters has bean bags, slides, and a bunch of other awesome things to tempt and motivate employees – but that’s neither here nor there. Besides, when she wrote a letter to CEO Sundar Pichai, she made sure to mention that she’s good in school and interested in both computers and robots. The bean bag chairs are just a perk, I’m sure.
Perhaps the most amazing part of the story is that Sundar Pichai took the time to write Chloe back, encouraging her to continue her interests in math and science and to apply to Google (or just continue to chase her dreams) in due time.
A shining example of a person of influence taking the time to encourage a young girl with big dreams. I have no doubt that little Chloe Bridgewater is going places, and the people of Twitter we just as charmed by her story as I am.
