This Is What Happens When You Invite Barack and Michelle Obama to Your Wedding

Presidents and First Ladies get tons and tons of mail, even in today’s digitally-inclined world.

You might assume that most of the mail gets glanced over then discarded, or perhaps stored away for future historians and archivists to pore over in 100 years.

This is apparently not the case with Barack and Michelle Obama.

A Twitter user named Brooke recently shared a photo of what her mother got in the mail after she invited the Obamas to her wedding. Yes, Barack and Michelle respond to wedding invitations from complete strangers.

The letter from the Obamas reads:

Congratulations on your wedding.

We hope that your marriage is blessed with love, laughter, and happiness and that your bond grows stronger with each passing year.

This occasion marks the beginning of a lifelong partnership, and as you embark on this journey, know how you have our very best for the many joys and adventures that lie ahead.

Brooke’s tweet opened up the floodgates, as other folks shared the correspondence they’ve received from the Obamas over the years.

Some were for high school graduations:

One was for a birth announcement:

So even if Barack and Michelle can’t make your wedding or your graduation, know that you very well may get a congratulatory note.

Cool!
