Melania Trump gave a speech Monday night that was widely regarded by pundits on both sides of the aisle as the highlight of the first night of the 2016 Republican National Convention.
However, during her headlining address, at least one journalist on Twitter noted that passages of her speech sounded very familiar.
First, Jarrett Hill noted a line…
Then he noted a passage…
Then he noted an entire paragraph…
Here are the actual words from each speech, side-by-side…
Obama: Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values. Like: you work hard for what you want in life.
Trump: the values that you work hard for what you want in life.Obama: that your word is your bond, that you do what you say you’re gonna do.
Trump: that your word is your bond, and you do what you say and keep your promise.Obama: that you treat people with dignity and respect
Trump: that you treat people with respectObama: because we want our children and all children in this nation to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work hard for them.
Trump: because we want our children in this nation to know that the only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.

The big question is now: who wrote the speech?
In an interview with NBC that was released earlier in the day, Melania claims she wrote the speech with some help.

However, the Trump campaign released a statement to the media which reveals that Melania actually had a team of writers…
In writing her beautiful speech, Melania’s team of writers took notes on her life’s inspirations, and in some instances include fragments that reflected her own thinking. Melania’s immigrant experience and for America shone through in her speech, which made it such a success.
Additionally, some have also pointed out that there’s another part of the speech that sounds very familiar.
