Mountain Dew and Doritos: A Snack Marriage Made in Heaven

When it comes to snack combinations, you can’t go wrong with soda and chips. The sugary, bubbly goodness of your favorite soft drink helps melt away the crunchy, spicy satisfaction from your favorite-flavored chips.

But what if I told you that two industry giants are working melding together into one flavor-packed punch?

That’s right, folks. Mountain Dew and Doritos are joining forces and they’re doing it in one of the most interesting (and potentially amazing) ways possible.

Available as a limited-edition item, Doritos Mountain Dew chips could be the life-saving snack you’ve only dreamt about. Combining the signature citrus sweetness of Mountain Dew with the perfectly constructed crunch of a Doritos chip certainly sounds intriguing. Then again, there have been many instances of two food icons trying to make magic only for it to fall laughably short.

In fact, the two brands have attempted to craft a new concoction before. Back in 2008 and 2014, PepsiCo Inc., which owns Mountain Dew, tried released Doritos-flavored Mountain Dew. Fittingly dubbed “Dewitos”, it definitely sounded better in theory than in practice. I never managed to get my hands on a bottle of the science experiment gone wrong, but I’m not upset.

Unfortunately for some flavor enthusiasts, the new Doritos Mountain Dew chips are not yet available in the United States. Currently, the new snack offering is exclusively sold in Australia. So if you’re fiending for a new flavor to spice up your snack time, try making friends with someone from down under.

Just make sure to bring something to wash it down with. Everyone has a different palette, but maybe our Aussie friends are on to something.

Remember: Don’t knock it till you try it.
