New Study Finds That Boomers Are More ‘Hypersensitive’ Than Millennials

Oh, boy…I have a feeling this isn’t gonna go over well with some older folks, if you know what I mean…

The seemingly never-ending conflict between Baby Boomers and Millennials might just get ratcheted up another notch due to a study that had some pretty surprising results. It was published in the journal Psychology and Aging, and it showed that even though people usually become less sensitive as they get older, overall Millennials are less sensitive than Baby Boomers. The study focused on generational and individual trends in narcissistic behaviors. The report is the largest study on narcissism ever recorded –750 people took part in the study.

The lead author of the study, William Chopik, said, “There’s a narrative in our culture that generations are getting more and more narcissistic, but no one has ever looked at it throughout generations or how it varies with age at the same time.”

But, again, the study showed that older generations tend to be more sensitive as a whole. The research showed that Baby Boomers tend to have higher levels of hypersensitivity, and were more likely to be full of themselves and to try to impose their will on other people.

The study defined hypersensitivity as lashing out against any criticism against one’s self and being unreceptive to feedback from other people.

Chopik also added, “There’s weak evidence that this [younger] generation is the worst in human history.”

And you know we have to end this article with only one phrase: Okay, Boomer…
