A few days ago, Paris had a rare snowstorm. Blanketed with snowflakes, the City of Lights turned into a muffled, dazzling landscape.
The Eiffel Tower, laced in ice, closed because of the treacherous weather. Meteo-France, the national weather agency, issued a winter-weather advisory. Slippery streets, power failure, phone outages. Quelle horreur.
But Paris being Paris, it didn’t let a little dusting of a couple of inches of snow stop her glamour. Mais oui. She wore it like a gown.
For a while, the streets and parks were quiet, feathered with snow.
Perhaps not the best day faire de la bicyclette.
Snow sprinkled the domes, sugaring them in silver.
Paris in a snowglobe. Veux un cafe?
Umbrellas are tres chic in Paris – a must for keeping snowflakes off your cigarette.
Aren’t poppies always under the snow in Paris?
Train cancelled because of the snow? Order crepes! Of course, they will have a bit of dusting themselves.
Finally at home, spend the rest of the day gazing out the window at the frosted courtyards, rooftops and streets.
But remember blue skies are always right around the corner in Paris.
Springtime in Paris? Non merci beaucoup. Paris in snow is enchanting.
