People Share Positive Things Going in Around the World These Days

The last couple of years have been pretty terrible…

And even though we’re making some improvement, there are still so many terrible things going on around the world right now that it can really make people depressed.

So that’s why we’re gonna focus on the good stuff today!

AskReddit users talked about positive things going on in the world right now.

Let’s see what they had to say.

1. Wonderful!

“In March, El Savador became the first Central American country to be declared malaria free.”

2. Going green.

“We now realize how utterly devastating plastic waste is to our environment and all creatures.

Thanks to people like Greta Thunberg climate change has become a real emergency issue that must be tackled now by all governments because as the earth warms the impacts from it will be catastrophic.”

3. The right thing.

“The German supreme court sacked the unspecific law against climate change that the government proposed.

They now have to add specific dates and numbers as to when they want to reduce what amount of Co2.”

4. Great idea.

“The Smokey Mountains National Park is having vehicle free days on some of their more popular roads like the Cades Cove Loop.”

5. Quality entertainment.

“There are some pretty epic movies and TV shows coming out soon.

Most notably are movies like Black Widow and sequels to popular TV shows like Brooklyn Nine Nine and The Umbrella Academy.

Pretty exciting.”

6. Marine life.

“The Flower Garden Banks Marine Sanctuary in the Gulf of Mexico was expanded earlier this year!

It now covers 17 coral reefs off the Texas/Louisiana coast.”

7. All good things.

“War/conflict are at an all time low.

People in general are healthier than they have been at any point in history.

A higher percentage of the population are out of poverty than ever before.”

8. Peace of mind.

“The COVID vaccine.

Its proliferation is helping to bring some semblance of normalcy back, and giving a lot of people a peace of mind that’s been lacking lately.”

9. Love it.

“Florida politicians unanimously voted to spend $300 million on conservation efforts to protect the watershed and Florida panther habitat.”

10. Less and less.

“The percentage of the world living in extreme poverty in 1980 was about 40%.

Today it is around 10%.”

11. Fair market?

“There are new regulations being passed that give retail investors hope for a market that is truly fair, and free of manipulation.

That, and we are about to witness the largest transfer of wealth in history, because anyone holding GME is about to become very wealthy once hedge funds begin buying back the mass of fraudulent shares they created.”

12. Crazy stuff.

“CRSPR gene editing is accomplishing crazy things right now. It’s likely going to revolutionize the field of biology and any related field such as medicine.

They’ve genetically edited blindness out of mice, and two children in China were made immune to AIDS transmission from their parents before they were born. The possibilities are endless.”

13. Awesome!

“The Mars rover successfully extracted oxygen from carbon dioxide on the surface of Mars!”

14. Into the sky.

“SpaceX started launching astronauts to the space station from American soil for the first time in 8 years.

To the point we’re already looking at the 3rd mission and the 4th is completely comprised of private individuals instead of astronauts. This all happened in literally one year, almost to the day.

The future of space exploration, industry, and recreation is becoming its own reality.”

15. Changing attitudes.

“The changing attitudes towards LGTBQ+ folks is probably having a pretty positive impact on a lot of people’s mental health.

Maybe not exactly all over the world, but it’s certainly moving in a positive direction and I’m sure it is really helping lot of people.”

16. The right thing.

“Our president is putting in place multiple initiatives that will better our environment and ecosystems over the next few years, it’s amazing to see someone take seriously something extremely important.

There was nothing more disturbing than to hear a leader in the past deny climate change and make no effort to bettering our future.”

17. Generation Z.

“Gen Z has awareness of so many issues and are devoted to finding their solution.

Many of us are environmentalist, support lbgtq+, are good listeners, have mental health awareness and now good advice is accessible to us through social media, though we have to be careful with what we take cuz good and bad are both present. 🙂

We support women’s equal rights and treat both animals and human with respect.”

18. Rights for the future.

“The German Federal Constitutional Court recently basically said, that people not only have rights in the present but also in the future.

Meaning that the state is responsible to ensure these future rights.

This leads to the German climate change prevention measurements being ruled insufficient, because they would lead to significant impediments on everyday life in the future.”

19. Much better.

“Less pollution by business travel because people finally realized that you can meet on zoom and it’s cheaper, easier, and faster too.”

20. Knowledge is power.

“More and more people are getting access to quality education, including specialized technical knowledge.

It was never this easy to get knowledge necessary to build quality career in developing countries.”

21. Efficiency is key.

“Architects across the US are being taught sustainability efforts to help get temperatures down and use less resources.

Buildings (like office, apartment, or other large ones not so much your house) make up a lot of pollution from beginning to end of its life so seeing these sustainability efforts and the impact they are having it awesome.”

22. Sounds interesting…

“Latvian rap/hiphop game is on fire for the last 6years straight.

You know how little s**t kids nowadays say stuff like “I was born in the wrong generation” when referring to music?

No man. I am so glad to be alive when my countrymen are making fire songs. Shout-out to everyone in Latvia making music that I love listening to.”

23. Gotta protect them.

“The Tiger population raised from 200 to 2000 in the last years, and the new generations of elephants are coming out with very short or absent tusks, meaning they’re mostly safe from poachers.”

24. What a time to be alive.

“Despite the shutdowns we’re still living in the least violent, most prosperous times in the history of humanity.

Extreme poverty is at its lowest rate ever and v**lent crime has been declining.”

25. Mother Earth.

“Pakistan is in the process of planting ten million trees, in order to save the country from global warming.

Similarly many countries are taking action towards global warming.”

26. Helping each other.

“Saw a lot of globally popular meme accounts raising money for the on-going pandemic crisis in India.

Makes me feel hopeful.”

27. Exciting!

“In Hawaii, a Hawaiian monk seal named Kaiwi recently gave birth right on the beach.

The area is sectioned off and there are barriers so that bystanders do not get close, as mama needs a lot of space to nurse.

Hawaiian monk seals are very endangered with only about 1,400 left. Everyone is excited for her successful birth :-).”

28. There’s this…

“Bill Gates is soon to be single ladies!

I wonder if he needs a sugar baby…”

29. All good things.

“Vaccinations against covid-19 are gradually increasing. We might just get this while corona thing behind us.

The acceptance of LGBTQ people is on the rise.

People are actually seriously working on lowering emissions to combat climate change.

Netflix just released “the Mitchells vs the robots” and it’s hilarious.”
