This is an honest mistake, right? Mariah Carey, Marie Curie…is there really a difference?

I kid, I kid, but you have to admit this situation is pretty darn hilarious.

An author from Canada named Harriet Alida Lye recently shared an incredibly funny mix-up on Twitter. It seems one of her cousins in England named Siobhan told her co-workers she wanted a cake with Mariah Carey on it for her birthday.

Instead, this happened…

Yes, Siobhan got a cake adorned with the face of Marie Curie, the Nobel Prize-winning physicist and chemist who died all the way back in 1934.

You could see how that mix-up could happen, right? One of the women sang “All I Want For Christmas is You” and the other one studied radioactivity and discovered polonium and radium. Pretty much the same person…

Here is Siobhan’s reaction to seeing the now-infamous cake. You can tell she is experiencing a combination of shock and utter disbelief, which usually leads to uncontrollable laughter.

The story went viral in such a big way that even Mariah Carey herself tweeted about the humorous mix-up.

The songbird said, “This could’ve been me if only I hadn’t failed remedial math. Happy birthday Siobhan!!”

And you know that other folks had to weigh in on the situation as well…

People on Twitter were actually big fans of the Marie Curie cake and offered their praise.

Because Marie needs some recognition too!

Can’t all be props for Mariah!

And honestly, don’t we all win in these situations?

I hope the cake was at least tasty…

Cake fail! In a major way!
