Starbucks in Japan Launches a Red and White Strawberry Cake Frappuccino for the Holidays

I don’t usually get too into the really outrageous drinks at Starbucks or other coffee joints, but, I have to admit, this looks pretty mouthwatering.

Starbucks in Japan (boo!, bring it here) launched a Merry Strawberry Cake Frappuccino last week and, by all appearances, it looks delicious and very festive!

The drink is supposed to taste similar to a Strawberry Shortcake. It features a red strawberry sauce, a sponge cake crumb, a sponge-cake flavored base, and it’s topped with strawberries and whipped cream.

A website that tried out the new drink reviewed the drink like this:

“According to Starbucks, this drink aims to recreate the moment you bite into a slice of Christmas cake, and as Masami dove in with her spoon, she couldn’t wait to find out what this experience would be like. She put a spoonful in her mouth, and was immediately dazzled by the drink. It was light and airy, and tasted strongly of sponge cake, and with the fruit flavours providing a refreshing finish, the beverage was neither too heavy nor too tart…it was just right.”

I do have to say that Starbucks in Japan looks absolutely delightful.

As of right now, Starbucks in the U.S. has not announced its official holiday menu but let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope we see some really amazing concoctions. One Instagram account teased that we might see an Irish Cream Cold Brew on this side of the pond for the holidays. This person also claims that most of the U.S. holiday menu should be available on November 7.
