The Internet Weighs In On How Bad Falling Asleep With Baby Could Really Be

Anyone who has ever had a baby has been lectured (time and again) on safe sleep practices.

Anyone who has ever had a baby also knows that once sleep deprivation kicks in, some hard decisions are almost always made – whether you make them consciously or not.

This man seems to be struggling a bit with the transition to fatherhood and all it entails, which is totally fair.

I (m27) have a 7 month old daughter with my wife (f29). Having a child this young is just straight up hell.

I have to work longer hours to cover expenses and I also can’t sleep because of her sleep cycles.

His wife left him with their infant daughter so she could spend some time with friends and OP fell asleep with his daughter on the couch.

On Sunday morning, my wife went out with her friends for the day and I was watching our daughter. I had no energy and when my daughter fell asleep in my arms while I was on the couch I did too.

When his wife returned home to find them sleeping there she flipped out, scared that something terrible could have happened that could have caused baby’s death.

I woke up to my wife yelling at me with my daughter in her arms.

She was going absolutely ballistic and telling me how irresponsible I was for sleeping with my daughters in my arms like that.

OP doesn’t see the big deal, and he’s wondering whether or not Reddit thinks it’s a problem.

I really think it isn’t an issue but she clearly does.

AITA?

The simple fact that he doesn’t realize the safe sleep police have been dispatched says a lot about which parent spends more time reading parenting-related topics on the internet.

The top comment is from a nurse who has seen the worst of the worst because that can absolutely happen when safe sleep practices are not followed.

Both parents should be educated on the risks.

If you’re a parent, know how to keep your little one safe while sleeping until they can do it for themselves.
