There Are More Royals in Line to the British Throne Than You Probably Realize — Here Is #11 to #24

Although they no longer ‘rule’ all of England and her territories in the strictest sense, the royals’ volunteerism, philanthropy and strong sense of duty keep them beloved representatives of the United Kingdom. And with the recent wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle, Americans are as enamored as ever with the family. But one thing we don’t understand – especially with the addition of two charming young princes and an adorable princess to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s family – is the line of succession to the British throne.

According to British law, the next in line to the throne is Queen Elizabeth’s oldest son, Prince Charles. His eldest child with the late Princess Diana is Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, making him 2nd in line. Prince William’s oldest child is Prince George, who is 3rd. After Prince George, came Princess Charlotte, 4th in line. Little brother, Prince Louis is 5th in line.

That means Will’s little brother Prince Harry is now 6th. With every child Will and his wife, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, add to the family, Harry’s placement moves down ever further.

Charles’ younger brother is Prince Andrew. Much like Harry, his place in line moves down every time Charles is blessed with another direct descendent. He is currently 7th, and his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, are 8th and 9th, respectively. And let’s not forget Charles’ youngest brother Prince Edward, who is now 10th in line to rule.

But that’s not where it ends – in fact, loads of royals are waiting in the wings for their turn. Scroll through the list to see who they are and impress your friends with your highbrow knowledge next time you meet for tea.

We treasonous colonists simply can’t help our fascination with the British royal family. There’s nothing quite like the glamour of the reigning House of Windsor
