When Alina Morse was just nine years old, her father explained to her why she might want to think twice about eating the free lollipops offered at the bank. The precocious child didn’t just ditch sugar cause it’s bad for her health, she actually went on a research spree that eventually led her to invent her own – tooth friendly – candy.
Her company, Zolli, makes lollipops, taffy, and gumdrops sweetened with erythritol and xylitol, two products that reduce acidity in your mouth and have been found to protect against cavities. Parent, dentist, and hygienist-approved, the yummy candy should be on every tot’s shopping list.
Morse is now 13 and the youngest person to ever grace the cover of Entrepreneur Magazine (she was part of a feature about young millionaires). In it, she talked about the inspiration behind her company.
“Consumers are realizing there is way too much sugar in their diets but we still want to have treats. And with Zolli candy, we are giving consumers what they want: guilt-free treats.”
Not only are the candies good for your teeth, they’re also gluten-free, non-GMO, dairy-free, organic, kosher, and contain only plant-based dyes and natural flavors – which pretty much means anyone is a diet restriction or allergy is also in the clear.
If you’re wondering how they taste, well, they must not be too bad – Zollipops are outselling Tootsie, Dum Dums, Blow Pop, and a bunch of other major candy companies on Amazon.
You can also pick them up at Kroger, Walmart, and Whole Foods, if you’re one of those people who still likes to go out in public to do your shopping.
God love ya.
