Bosses in America get a notoriously bad rap, and that’s because they are notoriously bad at being good people (EVERYONE BUT YOU BOSS, IF YOU’RE READING THIS.) Generalizations are dangerous, but it is undeniable that most middle-class Americans work way too much for too little pay, not enough vacation days, and constant fear of being fired or replaced.
Which is why a kind and, most importantly, appreciative boss should be praised and exalted when found. A boss like Imgur user CainMolir, who posted screencaps of a conversation he had with his employee Jenn in which she let him know she’d be late to work for the first and only time in six years— IN SIX YEARS!
“Just trying to be a good boss,” he wrote. “This lady has been with the company for about 8 years. In my time, she has never been late, called out, etc. She’s also a very sweet older lady that the guys in the office call ‘Mom.’
And, truth be told, Jenn’s reason for being late is valid af. Her dog was sleeping with its toy dragon and looked really cute, so she wasted some time grabbing pics.
Not only was boss totally cool with it, he also promised to hook her up with tickets to the Bark and Park promotional game, which sounds like a dog-themed baseball game? Seems stressful, but to each his own. “How could I be upset over that cute pup?!” ends his Imgur caption. “Be nice to each other today!”
The post blew up so quickly that he added an addendum, answering the many questions he’d been asked:
Though some replied to the story with jokes, others praised the purity of this work exchange and were like…hire me?
Granted, you’d have to have a heard of steel to not be swayed by THIS:
Also- anyone else think it’s weird this dude kept track of every time his employees were late during an eight-year period?
